The IShtetle is abuzz with news of a latest sexual predator in our midst. The 5 Towns Jewish Times published a community alert warning us that a respected therapist and anti-pornography activist has been abusing his position and getting Biblically nasty with both unmarried and married women alike.
This man displays the typical grooming behavior of a sexual predator by presenting himself as a trusted counselor and making his victims feel special. Apparently he is very careful to make sure that none of his victims are below the age of eighteen.
The author of the community warning has spoken to one of the victims and can verify that her charges are credible. Also, five unnamed gedolim have ruled that this warning must be widely publicized throughout our communities and on the internet.
What a miraculous step forward in preventing and condemning sexual abuse in the orthodox community!
I’m not sure about you, but I feel much safer –
NOT knowing the name of the perpetrator.
NOT knowing the names or stories of the alleged victims.
NOT knowing the names of the not one, but FIVE, gedolim who signed off on this published warning.
KNOWING the names of individuals who are suspected of being the perpetrator discussed in the community alert.
KNOWING that these rabbis have decided not to report the perpetrator’s crimes to police.
KNOWING that the internet is probably not ossur anymore, since gedolim have instructed that this community alert be shared online.
KNOWING that the takeaway from this fiasco is that the community will now insist on same gender therapists for orthodox Jews.
KNOWING that the next logical step is forbidding women from seeking private counseling from men in general, thus opening the door to female clergy. :) (HT M.T. Facebook)
Don’t you all feel better knowing that there is a predator in our midst, and the rabbonim have seen fit to warn us?
